Recently Ben Franklin, Yank and Limey’s president and creative director, had the fortunate opportunity to have a guitar lesson with guitarist Richard Fortus of Guns n’ Roses and Thin Lizzy. Ben spent several hours with Richard, talking about everything from raising children to life as a rock star. In the time Ben could say ‘Helvetica Rocks’, Richard had ripped through a hundred guitar notes with his lightning fast fingers in multiple styles, leaving our very own Y&L guitarist speechless and in awe of witnessing skills of this caliber.

When helping Arcobasso present to a client that has a well known line of dressings, we knew we needed to go big and bold… literally. The last thing we wanted to do was create the old Powerpoint presentation. And the presentation was happening in a dining room at a restaurant… not the best place for a slide show.

So we created a larger-than-life scroll that allowed Arcobasso to present their ideas for a regional rollout in a way that had their client eating out of their hands. Well received by the client, Arcobasso is now ready to put the plan to work. This project needed a new, different, and better way of presenting a marketing concept. And that’s exactly what the client received.

What do superior filmmaking skills and branding/positioning expertise all add up to? Web 2.v of course! It’s a new collaboration between the branding experts at Yank and Limey and the talents of filmmaker, Greg Kiger, of Once Films, www.oncefilms.com.

How is this different than “just adding video to your web site?”

“It’s a huge difference,” quips Ben Franklin, president and creative director at Yank and Limey, the genius behind Once Films new brand name and image. “We don’t just write scripts, direct, and shoot videos. We bring brand stories to life through our unique ability to ‘see’ a brand for what it really is and convey that in a meaningful way for a client’s customers. Then we tell that story through moving images, real life portraits, and inspirational cinematography.”

Yank and Limey took the bold step of putting its principals and brand out there for all to see in our showreel video, shot and produced by Kiger. Take a look for yourself, just click on showreel in the menu to the left.

Yank and Limey and Once Films offer a combination that no one else provides… true marketing strategy, award-winning branding, and outstanding filmmaking. With the high bandwidth that is nearly everywhere these days, inside companies and at home alike… short, telling brand stories offer a powerful way to bring your brand to life. Ask us how to get started with what we call Web 2.v.

Shaughnessy Paper & More, a new retail paper store in Sunset Hills, never had a proper web site. The new site needed to convey all the fantastic paper products available from Shaughnessy and their partners, and also be “easy to shop” for small businesses, printers, designers, and consumers.

Yank and Limey understands that viewing a new web site is like looking at the tip of an iceberg. There is a lot that goes on under the surface, prior to the site launch, that makes a site outstanding. This includes proper branding, messaging for each type of visitor who will view the site, and strong content and SEO to help drive organic searches. We also made sure the new site tied into all of Paper & More’s branding and marketing efforts.

From conception of the Paper & More brand, to the final launch of the new site, Yank and Limey truly captured the essence of the store as a place “where ideas unfold.”

How many times have we heard this from prospective clients lately? Of course, it’s because their web sites are outdated, stale, and perhaps poorly designed. It’s critical that a site be reflective of the company brand and have “rooms” for each type of visitor with messaging that resonates with each audience. People are crunched for time and want to know what’s in it for them right away… lest you lose them to another site altogether.

We like to use what we call our “hub” web site redesign process to make sure that the new site is going to achieve the client’s goals, be on message, and properly reflect the company brand in a way that has clients saying, “I just love our new site!”

Urban Improvement Construction/Central Design Office inks innovative marketing strategy, branding, and design firm to launch and promote new green neighborhood project

St. Louis, MO – September 15, 2010 – Yank and Limey, a St. Louis-based strategic marketing, branding, and design firm, was recently selected by a local construction and architectural design firm, UIC/CDO, to name, brand, and promote a new “green living” neighborhood in the blocks just north of the Botanical Gardens. The land is part of an extension of the Botanical Heights neighborhood, which is part of the efforts of the Garden District Commission to redevelop the area around the Botanical Gardens.

Yank and Limey will work with the principals involved with the project to develop the brand, web site, and collateral materials. “The most inspiring part of this project is we get to do what we love, tapping our passion for brand building from the ground up. The resulting brand identity will leverage Yank and Limey’s wide range of services, reflecting our skill in high design in every facet, through brand identity to collateral, web, PR and promotions,” stated Benjamin Franklin, president and creative director at Yank and Limey. “We will work from the perspective of potential buyers to construct a brand that reflects what is most important to them about city living, starting with the green elements being planned for this new development,” he added.

The project will feature a neighborhood-wide geothermal heating and cooling system, most likely the largest of its kind in a residential housing development, as well as a series of rain gardens to capture and make use of rainwater. Recently Yank and Limey developed brands around other green themes for the Shaughnessy Paper & More store in Sunset Hills, a retail paper store that counts over 80 percent of its inventory as earth-friendly and recycled paper products. Other “green” brands the agency has created have been for Shaughnessy Graphics and Wade Paper Corporation, both divisions of Shaughnessy Paper.
