Yank and Limey Unfolds the Bold Brand of Shaughnessy Paper & More with New Web Site

Shaughnessy Paper & More, a new retail paper store in Sunset Hills, never had a proper web site. The new site needed to convey all the fantastic paper products available from Shaughnessy and their partners, and also be “easy to shop” for small businesses, printers, designers, and consumers.

Yank and Limey understands that viewing a new web site is like looking at the tip of an iceberg. There is a lot that goes on under the surface, prior to the site launch, that makes a site outstanding. This includes proper branding, messaging for each type of visitor who will view the site, and strong content and SEO to help drive organic searches. We also made sure the new site tied into all of Paper & More’s branding and marketing efforts.

From conception of the Paper & More brand, to the final launch of the new site, Yank and Limey truly captured the essence of the store as a place “where ideas unfold.”

Let us show you how you can make your site work harder, act as the “hub” of your communications programs, and convey the online image your company is worthy of. Contact us today.

I hear it all the time: “I hate my web site…”

How many times have we heard this from prospective clients lately? Of course, it’s because their web sites are outdated, stale, and perhaps poorly designed. It’s critical that a site be reflective of the company brand and have “rooms” for each type of visitor with messaging that resonates with each audience. People are crunched for time and want to know what’s in it for them right away… lest you lose them to another site altogether.

We like to use what we call our “hub” web site redesign process to make sure that the new site is going to achieve the client’s goals, be on message, and properly reflect the company brand in a way that has clients saying, “I just love our new site!”

Yank and Limey Brands Green Neighborhood

Yank and Limey Selected as Agency of Record for  “Green” Residential Development near Missouri Botanical Gardens

Urban Improvement Construction/Central Design Office inks innovative marketing strategy, branding, and design firm to launch and promote new green neighborhood project

St. Louis, MO – September 15, 2010 – Yank and Limey, a St. Louis-based strategic marketing, branding, and design firm, was recently selected by a local construction and architectural design firm, UIC/CDO, to name, brand, and promote a new “green living” neighborhood in the blocks just north of the Botanical Gardens. The land is part of an extension of the Botanical Heights neighborhood, which is part of the efforts of the Garden District Commission to redevelop the area around the Botanical Gardens.

Yank and Limey will work with the principals involved with the project to develop the brand, web site, and collateral materials. “The most inspiring part of this project is we get to do what we love, tapping our passion for brand building from the ground up. The resulting brand identity will leverage Yank and Limey’s wide range of services, reflecting our skill in high design in every facet, through brand identity to collateral, web, PR and promotions,” stated Benjamin Franklin, president and creative director at Yank and Limey. “We will work from the perspective of potential buyers to construct a brand that reflects what is most important to them about city living, starting with the green elements being planned for this new development,” he added.

The project will feature a neighborhood-wide geothermal heating and cooling system, most likely the largest of its kind in a residential housing development, as well as a series of rain gardens to capture and make use of rainwater. Recently Yank and Limey developed brands around other green themes for the Shaughnessy Paper & More store in Sunset Hills, a retail paper store that counts over 80 percent of its inventory as earth-friendly and recycled paper products. Other “green” brands the agency has created have been for Shaughnessy Graphics and Wade Paper Corporation, both divisions of Shaughnessy Paper.

Yank and Limey Brands New Paper Store

Yank and Limey Unfolds Promotion of New Shaughnessy Paper & More Retail Store

Marketing strategy and design firm handles everything from strategy and branding to logo development and PR in the opening of new paper store

St. Louis, MO – February 12, 2010 – Yank and Limey, a strategic marketing, branding, and design firm based in St. Louis, recently helped Shaughnessy, a major paper distributor located in the metro area, launch and promote its new retail store. Paper & More officially opened its doors in December, with a rare combination of specialty paper selections for consumers as well as reams and cases for printers, businesses, and samples for designers. Yank and Limey was commissioned to help guide Shaughnessy management brand the store, create a new logo and tagline, manage creation of both exterior and interior signage as well as promote the new store to the public.

“We had a vision for our Paper & More retail store. We knew the customer base that we wanted to target. We knew the products we wanted to offer. We had an idea of what we wanted the store to look like. What we didn’t know was how all those components work together to create the optimal desired result,” commented Jerry Callahan, Shaughnessy general manager. “Yank and Limey provided all the intangibles that we were missing. With the expertise that Ben and Paul brought to us, we were able to create the right environment… from the logo and signage to the inside of the store where Ben and Paul helped create an environment that was warm, friendly, informative, attractive and best of all, enhanced our products by the way they were displayed,” he added.

The project began as a logo for the exterior signage and expanded into a full-fledged marketing program that tied all elements together on the foundation of a solid marketing strategy and brand for the new store. Yank and Limey created advertisements and invitations to promote the grand opening and even arranged an interview with KMOV-TV’s Kristen Cornett and Ed Kniep, president and COO of Shaughnessy, to promote the store’s “Green Scene” initiative. Watch the interview here. “This was truly a fabulous launch to be a part of, from the logo work to the interior design and promotion and could not have been better received by the client,” reported Ben Franklin, president and creative director of Yank and Limey. “This project truly allowed Yank and Limey to showcase our talents as well as our wide range of expertise in marketing strategy, branding, and design,” he added.

Yank and Limey is also assisting in the development of the Paper & More web site as well as updating Shaughnessy’s corporate site. “It’s gratifying to see a project go from conception to reality. Yank and Limey provided the direction and kept us on course. Working with Ben and Paul has been a rewarding experience. They took our vision, made it reality and the results have exceeded our expectations,” said Callahan.

The Pursuit of Helvetica 1

The passion for Helvetica continues to thrive within my typographic genes. During my time as a high school kid I’d create project titles for my technical drawing class projects from Letraset rub downs. Helvetica was the only font available and from the age of 15 my passion grew. The fun part was creating a letterform you’d already used using only the available remaining characters.
